Remember when finding a good Edmonton accountant was just word of mouth?

I needed a new business accountant last year after mine retired. Figured it would take a week, maybe two. I spent over three months calling around and meeting people who just weren't a good fit for my small shop. Finally found a great one through a referral at an Edmonton Business Network coffee meetup in October. The whole search took 14 weeks longer than I planned. Has anyone else had a simple task like this blow up into a months-long project?

Calling that a "simple task" is a stretch, finding the right pro always takes time.

My last contractor search took three months.

What kind of stuff made them a bad fit? Like, were they pushing services you didn't need, or just not getting how your shop works? @kelly_craig mentioned a long contractor search too, and I bet it's the same deal. You find someone who looks good on paper, but then they want to redo your whole bookkeeping system when you just need someone to file your taxes.
