Talking to my cousin made me question how I finish corners

My cousin who does commercial work came by my job site last Tuesday. He watched me tape a few inside corners and asked why I was using such a wide knife. He said he switched to a 6 inch for everything and it cut his time by almost 30 percent. It hit different because he showed me a finished corner from last month that looked cleaner than mine. I've been using a 8 or 10 inch for years now and never thought to try smaller. Has anyone else changed their knife size and seen a big improvement?

Man's out here making me rethink my whole approach to corners and now I feel personally attacked by a 6 inch knife. Guess I gotta swallow my pride and try the baby blade.

38 years of carrying big blades and I finally picked up a 3 inch folder last month. Felt like I was holding a toy at first. First time I needed to slice open a box in a tight spot I felt like an idiot for all those years wrestling with my big folders. That little thing glided right in. Pride is a funny thing. It makes you think you need more blade than you actually do.

My buddy swore by his little Kershaw for years and I always brushed him off, telling him bigger was better for real work. Then I borrowed it to cut down some drywall tape in a cramped closet and holy cow, it beat my 4 inch folder by a mile. Took me 38 years to learn that same lesson, you're not alone.
