That cafe owner in Chiang Mai was right about coworking spaces

A guy named Pete who runs a coffee shop told me to avoid the big coworking spots and just work from his place for free WiFi. I ignored him for 2 months and wasted $150 on memberships I barely used. Finally tried his spot and the WiFi is faster than any of those paid places. Has anyone else found a hidden gem like that for working on the road?

Yeah the "wasted $150 on memberships" hit home. I did the same thing in Bali for two months before some random noodle shop owner told me their WiFi was better than any coworking space on the block. He was right. Always ask the locals who actually work there, they know the real spots.

Saw a blog post saying the best WiFi in Lisbon is at a bakery, not the coworking spots. True.

Ha! @emery199 is spot on. The best wifi I've found in Porto was at a tiny pastel de nata shop near the river. Coworking spots charge you for the vibe, not the connection.
