Can we talk about the empty storefronts on Woodward near Grand Circus Park?
I was walking a client around yesterday and we counted seven vacant ground-floor retail spots in just two blocks. It's a prime location, but the 'for lease' signs have been up for over a year on some of them. What's the hold-up with filling these spaces?

Honestly, I used to just blame it on the city not trying hard enough. Then I talked to a friend who works in commercial real estate. She said the property owners are asking for rents that only big national chains could afford, but those chains don't want to open in that spot right now. It's a total standoff. So the spaces just sit empty while everyone waits for the other side to blink.
