I used to swipe background music without thinking twice
Honestly, I always just picked songs from random playlists for my videos. Then a friend told me her original track got used in a big channel without any mention. It made me see how that hurts small musicians. Now I only use tracks with clear permission or make my own stuff.

That bit about small musicians getting hurt is so true. My buddy Jason makes these really chill ambient tracks, and one got picked up by a travel vlog with like 200k subs. They never credited him, so he got zero new listeners from all those eyes. He was pretty bummed about it.

Yeah that travel vlog thing is such a common slap in the face. Did Jason ever try to reach out to the creator to ask for credit or a link in the description? Sometimes they'll fix it if called out, but other times they just ignore you. I've seen both happen.

Classic "who, me?" move from the creator probably. Poor @sam_thomas's buddy Jason deserved better.
