Went to that big writer's conference downtown

Paid $45 for a day pass to the Metro City Writers Forum. Sat in on a panel about worldbuilding. The speaker just read Powerpoint slides for 45 minutes. No examples, no prompts, nothing I could actually use. Has anyone else sat through a "professional" writing talk that was basically a waste of cash?

That $45 could've bought two decent used writing books instead.

Did the speaker at least hand out a worksheet or something? I went to one where the guy talked for an hour about his own book series and never once explained how he actually built the world. Total waste of $30 for the entry fee.
