Warning: The old train station in my town is PURE inspiration for character prompts
I started people-watching there last month and wrote profiles for a dozen fictional travelers. My writing circle called them VIVID and it feels like a real breakthrough. Where do you go to find ordinary people that spark your stories?

My local train station is the WORST for real people. Everyone puts on their "public transit face" and hides their actual lives. Watched for two hours last Tuesday and got nothing but bored commuters staring at phones.

Those blank stares are kinda scary when you really look... like everyone's playing a part in a boring play. Saw a guy yesterday so glued to his screen he walked straight into a pole. We're all just ghosts to each other until someone's coffee spills.
