Tried writing a scene from the villain's POV and it fixed my whole plot hole problem

Stuck on a chapter for two weeks where my hero just kept making dumb choices. Swapped to the bad guy's head for one page and suddenly everything clicked - the hero's actions made sense because I saw what the villain was setting up. Took maybe 20 minutes. Has anyone else used a perspective switch like this to get unstuck?

I read somewhere switching POVs forces your brain out of a rut.

Does it actually work for you though?

Had a friend who swore by the cold shower method for writer's block - same idea, jolting your brain awake. Tried it once and just ended up shivering and mad, so I stick to switching between typing and handwriting notes now. Works enough to keep the panic away lol.
