Heard a barista say 'everyone's writing about the same three apocalypses' and it made me check my own drafts, lol.
I looked at my last five story starters and three of them were about a climate disaster, which is a bit much, so has anyone else noticed a theme they keep defaulting to without meaning to?

Ugh, I just started writing about gardening instead.

That barista has a point. My own notes are full of stories where society just quietly stops working, like power grids failing for good or supply chains snapping. It's not even zombies, just... empty shelves and silent phones. Feels like we're all trying to figure out the next normal by writing it out.
