Worked a shift at the gas station and a guy tried to pay for a soda with a handful of loose screws.

He said it was 'good metal' and worth at least two dollars. I had to call my manager over, who just stared for a solid minute before saying no. What's the strangest thing someone's tried to use as money at your job?

Actually, bolts are usually cheaper than screws at the hardware store. That guy might have been offering the more expensive part of the set. Still not legal tender though.

Yeah but the "good metal" part makes me wonder if they were like... stainless steel or something fancy.

Okay the 'good metal' part got me. I mean, maybe it's just me but I feel like if you're gonna try that, at least bring bolts too for a full hardware set. Idk, loose screws on their own just seems like a bad deal.
