Why does nobody talk about how much cheaper sharpening your own scissors is?

Found out my local shop charges $25 a pair but I got a basic stone for $15 at Sally Beauty last week and sharpened 3 pairs myself in 10 minutes. Has anyone else switched to doing it at home and saved a ton?

lol right? paying $25 to sharpen some kitchen scissors feels like a scam when you can just rub them on a rock for a few seconds. i mean i get it if you're doing like $200 hair shears or something but for regular household stuff its a total waste of money. my grandma taught me how to do it with a coffee mug bottom in a pinch and honestly that works better than some people's kit. also the satisfaction of hearing that clean snip after you do it yourself is oddly nice.

$25 does seem like a lot but also jeez it's not that deep. I still take my good sewing shears to the shop because I don't trust myself not to mess up the angle or something.

Funny how we'll pay for stuff we could easily do ourselves just because the pros make it feel special.
