Walked into a kitchen remodel 3 weeks after the sheetrock went up and barely recognized it

The homeowners switched from cheap pine cabinets to solid maple and put in quartz countertops with a waterfall edge. It went from builder grade basic to something you'd see in a magazine. Has anyone else had a client change materials mid-job and seen a huge shift in the final look?

Are they actually happy with the waterfall edge now or regretting it?

Saw a post from an interior designer who said waterfall edges are like the skinny jeans of countertops. Look great in photos but nobody actually wants to deal with them in real life. Guessing they're probably in the "love the look, hate the upkeep" camp now.

honestly i bet they're secretly regretting it every time someone bumps into that thing. it looks cool in pictures but in real life you're constantly worried about someone smacking their head on the corner or kids trying to climb it. my buddy had one in his old house and he said it looked amazing but was a total pain to keep clean and he was always scared his toddler would try to surf on it. they probably tell everyone they love it but i'd bet money they've got a pile of throw pillows in front of it to stop people from getting too close.
