I finally looked up how many miles my bus driver actually covers in a day
I was stuck in traffic on the 7:15 express into downtown and got curious. A quick search on the transit authority's site showed the driver on my route, the 42B, logs over 120 miles just on their morning loop. That's like driving from here to the state line and back before lunch. Anyone else ever get curious and look up the numbers for their own commute?

Ever wonder how many hours they actually spend behind the wheel in a week? That daily mileage adds up fast, and they're doing it in stop and go traffic with a bus full of people. Makes you appreciate the job a bit more, even when the bus is running late. I bet the wear and tear on those vehicles is insane with that kind of constant use.

My cousin drives for the city and his shifts are brutal, like 10-12 hours most days just crawling through downtown. The constant braking alone must destroy those pads and rotors way faster than a normal car. It's a tough gig for sure.
