Update: I finally fixed that weird echo in my home studio setup

I thought the echo in my voice recordings was from my cheap mic, so I bought a new one for $150. After that didn't work, I spent maybe three hours moving foam panels around the room with no luck. The fix was actually just a frayed cable behind the mixer that took me 20 seconds to swap once I found it. Has anyone else wasted a bunch of time on a simple hardware glitch?

Ever feel like @alice269 and I should start a support group for this stuff?

Oh man, that hits home. I once spent a whole weekend convinced my guitar pedal was broken, only to realize I'd plugged the power supply into the wrong jack. The solution was literally staring me in the face the entire time.

Remember when we used to laugh at people for not reading manuals? I was totally that guy. Then I spent three hours trying to sync a wireless mouse, getting madder by the minute. Turns out there was a tiny physical switch on the bottom I had to flip. The manual had a whole picture about it. Now I just sigh and check the obvious stuff first.
