I thought those knee pad inserts were a total gimmick until I tried them last Tuesday
For years I just used the basic pads that came with my work pants, and my knees were killing me by Friday every week. A guy on another crew kept telling me to get the gel inserts, said they changed his life, but I figured it was just more junk to buy. Then I did a big job in a two story house in Everett, all stairs and landing carpet, and my old pads were shot. I grabbed a pair of those G-Foam inserts from the supply house on a whim, cost me about thirty bucks. Put them in my pants and did eight hours on those stairs. I swear, getting up at the end of the day was a totally different feeling. No sharp ache, just normal tired legs. I feel like an idiot for putting up with the pain for so long just because I was stubborn. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a real difference, or did I just get lucky?

You said you got them from the supply house on Tuesday, but G-Foam is the brand the big box stores carry. The supply houses usually stock the ProFlex gel series, which is what I use. They're a bit thicker and last longer on concrete. Either way, you're right that the upgrade is real. The basic pads are basically just for show.
