Dropped $350 on a Festool domino joiner and it paid for itself in one weekend
I was building a birch plywood bookshelf for a customer in Denver and spent half a Saturday fighting with dowels before I caved and bought the Domino. Now I finish mortise and tenon joints in 10 minutes flat - has anyone else had a tool expense that felt ridiculous but ended up being totally worth it?

...and that's exactly what I told my buddy when he gave me flak for spending $350 on a router bit set last year. I was building a raised panel door for a cabinet and the first bit I tried chipped out after three cuts. So I caved and bought this overpriced set and it cut through that oak like butter. Now I use it for everything, even if the customer doesn't care about the difference. You know, @uma_martinez, sometimes we do these upgrades just for ourselves. It's like buying a good tape measure - the speed alone makes it worth it. I still wince at the price tag but I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

$350 on a router bit set, man. I feel you @terryk28, that's the kind of purchase you gotta just commit to and never look back. Honestly, sometimes you gotta treat yourself, even if the customer can't tell the difference - it's about your own sanity on the job.
