I started tracking my work wins in a simple list and it changed my review talk
My manager asked for examples of my good work before my yearly review. I panicked because I couldn't remember anything specific from the last 6 months. So I made a quick note on my phone called 'Wins' and just started adding stuff. Small things like 'fixed the report error for the sales team on Tuesday' or 'helped train the new intern on our software'. After 3 months, I had over 20 items. In my review, I pulled up the list and it made talking about my value so much easier. Has anyone else tried a simple trick like this to get ready for a review?

Did the same with a weekly email to myself.

Used to think writing things down was a waste of time. Felt like I was just talking to myself. Started a weekly email like you did, and it forced me to put my messy thoughts in order. Seeing them written plainly made my own problems seem clearer and smaller. It turned a jumbled week into something I could actually look at and fix. Now I wouldn't stop doing it for anything.

Honestly, "talking to myself" is the only way I get any decent advice these days.
