Unpopular opinion: the premium bulk bins at my local co-op are actually worse for my wallet.
I weighed out a bag of oats from the fancy bulk section last week and it came to $4.80 a pound, while the store brand bag a few aisles over was $2.10 a pound for the exact same thing, so has anyone else noticed stores using the eco-friendly bulk setup to quietly jack up prices?

Isn't the whole point of bulk bins to save money, not make you feel fancy and broke at the same time?

Bulk bins are weird like that. My local store has them and @shanem37 is right that the whole point is saving money, but somehow I always walk out feeling like I bought gold dust in a paper bag. Last week I grabbed some "artisan" granola from the bulk section and it was $9 a pound - I could've bought a whole box of normal cereal for less. The worst part is you can't even see the price until you're at the register and then you're stuck holding your fancy little bag of shame. Honestly, I think bulk bins are just a trap for people who want to feel like they're being eco-friendly but end up paying more for less.
