My coworker insisted I take a real lunch break away from my desk
For months, I'd just eat at my computer in Chicago. My friend Mark said I had to actually leave the building for 30 minutes, even just to sit in my car. I thought it was a waste of time, but I tried it last week. Honestly, I came back feeling way less foggy in the afternoon. Now I'm torn, because it feels good but I also worry about falling behind. Do you guys force yourselves to take a proper break, or is staying put more productive?

Wow, I read a study that said short breaks actually BOOST focus later.

Makes me wonder if the type of break matters. Like, checking your phone probably doesn't help the same way a physical break does. Maybe it's about giving your eyes and brain a totally different type of task for a few minutes.

Totally makes sense. I mean, have you ever tried to just power through for hours? Your brain just turns to mush. I'll do a quick five minute walk or just stare out the window, and it's like hitting a reset button. You come back and actually see the problem you were stuck on.
