Pro tip: That $200 bone folder set was a total waste for me

I bought the fancy set with three different sizes, thinking it would make my creases perfect. Honestly, my old plastic one from the craft store works just as well for most papers. The bone ones feel nice but they didn't change my work at all, and one tip is already chipped. Has anyone found a specific job where the expensive ones actually make a big difference?

Your "total waste" comment hits home, like my own fancy paperweight collection.

I used to buy all the high end gear too. Now I just grab whatever works and get on with it.

That whole "pro" gear trap is everywhere now. It's like people think the expensive version automatically makes you better at the thing. My old, basic stuff usually gets the job done just fine.

You really think that plastic tool works just as well? I have to disagree. The weight and smoothness of a real bone folder makes a huge difference on thick paper or leather. That chip on yours might be from a flaw in that specific set, not the material itself. My expensive one has lasted years without a single mark. For delicate scoring or getting into tight corners, the right tool changes everything. What kind of projects are you trying to use it for?
