Serious question, our group in Austin argued for an hour about the ending of 'The Road' back in 2010.

We were at the old BookPeople cafe, and one guy got so mad he left early. Now I send out a single, clear discussion question with the meeting invite to keep things on track. What's your best method for stopping a book talk from going off the rails?

Damn, that sounds intense lol. So what was the actual argument about? Like, were people fighting over whether the ending was hopeful or just bleak as hell?

Man, that book will do it to you every time. So which side were you on, did you think the kid finding that other group was a real rescue or just more of the same awful world waiting to happen?

I read that book ten years ago and still argue about the ending. I was sure the new group was just another kind of bad waiting for him. My sister still thinks I'm too cynical.
