Shoutout to the guy at the game store who said I was overthinking my deck build

I spent like 3 hours tweaking a deck for a local tournament last month and some random player (older dude, probably in his 50s) just watched me and said "you're overthinking it, just pick the cards that feel fun and go from there." I thought he was blowing me off, but I tried it and my deck actually performed better. Less stress too. Has anyone else had a stranger at a meetup give advice that actually worked out?

3 hours on a single deck build does sound a bit much for a local tournament, but then again @hollyl45 maybe that guy just got lucky with his advice.
