One perfect Tuesday night of 7 Wonders, then a Thursday that flopped entirely
Last Tuesday my regular group of 5 played 7 Wonders with all the expansions and every game came down to the last card, I was buzzing for two days after. Then Thursday we tried the same lineup and two people bailed, the other three just argued about scoring rules and we packed it up after one round. Does anyone else find that a great night makes a bad one feel way worse, or is it just me?

Geez, that hits close to home. I read somewhere that your brain tends to remember the last game night you had more than the best one, so a bad session can really wipe out all the good feelings from before. It's like the opposite of a movie ending, you leave the table feeling rotten and that sticks with you for days. Also, when someone bails, it throws off the whole group energy, and the people left behind get weird and hyper-focused on rules instead of having fun. My group had a similar thing happen last month, great game of Agricola on a Saturday, then a Tuesday where two guys showed up late and we spent forty minutes arguing about a wheat trade. I've started just calling it quits early if the vibe is off, better to end a bit disappointed than to sit through a whole night that turns sour.

Tuesday night sessions are cursed, I swear. We have a house rule now, no games after 8pm and definitely not on Tuesdays. Called it at 9 once and nobody complained.
