I finally watched that show everyone said was slow and it completely hooked me

Gave 'Station Eleven' three episodes after my friend in Austin said it was a slog, and the quiet parts are what got me. The scene with the graphic novel in the airport made me pause it. Who else has a show they almost skipped that turned out amazing?

Totally get that! I almost gave up on The Leftovers but that slow burn wrecked me in the best way.

I used to skip shows if they didn't grab me in the first two episodes. Then I stuck with The Leftovers past season one and it completely changed my mind. That show builds something so heavy and sad and weird, but you have to let it get there. Now I give slow burns at least four episodes before I decide. The payoff is almost always better when a story takes its time.

Ever try just watching with subtitles on? @williamm82 is right, some shows need that slow burn to really hit you.
