A whole weekend? That's brutal. My worst was maybe five hours on a really stubborn one. I can't imagine losing two full days to a bottom bracket. What kind of tool were you using? Sometimes a longer breaker bar makes all the difference.

My 2005 Cannondale's bottom bracket was seized solid last year. I thought it would be a quick fix, but it turned into a two-day saga. Soaking the threads in penetrating oil overnight finally did the trick. I used a cheap brand from the hardware store, not the fancy bike stuff. Actually, I almost gave up and took it to a shop, but patience paid off. Now I always budget extra time for any bottom bracket job.
