Spent 4 hours chasing a ghost chain skip on my own bike
Turns out I had a stiff link I couldn't see - missed it because I didn't spin the cranks backwards slow enough after a new chain install. Has anyone else wasted a whole afternoon on something this dumb?

Four hours on a stiff link sounds crazy but I once spent a whole Saturday trying to fix a broken zipper on a jacket. I just kept thinking I could get it done in fifteen minutes. Three cups of coffee later I had the thing spread out all over my kitchen table. My roommate came home and thought I was building something out of fabric and metal. It was a stiff zipper not a link but same kind of energy really. Sometimes you get stuck on a simple thing and it turns into a whole project.
