I finally bought a soil moisture meter after my basil died
Spent about $15 on a basic one and it showed my raised bed was bone dry 3 inches down, even though the surface looked damp. Has anyone else had a plant look fine but the roots were actually thirsty?
Ugh, it's the worst. I lost a whole pot of cilantro that way last year. The trick is to really soak it until water runs out the bottom, not just a light sprinkle. I stick my finger in every couple days now, it's the only way to be sure. Those little moisture meters are cheap and help a ton too.
