My silent yoga pose had a very loud, accidental soundtrack
I was holding a child's pose (focusing on my breathing, you know?) and my stomach decided to growl so loud it echoed in the quiet room. The instructor paused and someone definitely snorted trying not to laugh. What's the best way to laugh off a bodily noise malfunction in a wellness setting without wanting to vanish?

At a silent retreat in 2022, my stomach growled so loud it interrupted the guide. I just laughed out loud and said, 'Sorry, my body's joining the conversation.' The guide smiled and said bodies make noise, it's fine. By owning it with humor, I shifted the mood from awkward to relaxed. Nobody cared after that, and we moved on.

Can you believe I used to die inside over noises like that, but this story changed my mind?

Actually what gets me is that some brains just process sound differently, and it's not even about being annoyed. Like the wiring itself catches every scrape or chew, and your body reacts before you can think. That story probably helped because it showed the noise wasn't about disrespect, just a normal thing happening. It sort of takes the personal sting out.
