My office chair basically exploded during a video call yesterday

I was leaning back just a tiny bit during a boring meeting when I heard this loud crack. The whole seat dropped down about 3 inches and I ended up slumped weirdly with my knees near my chin. My coworker asked if I was okay on the call and I had to pretend everything was fine for another 10 minutes while I tried to sit normal. Ended up ordering a $150 chair from Office Depot later that night. Anyone else have a piece of furniture just give up on them at the worst time?

Try checking the gas cylinder before buying a new chair next time. A lot of times those just pop loose and you can jam them back in with a rubber mallet. Saved me $150 when I figured that out after already tossing my old chair in the alley.

Mine didn't explode but it did start slowly sinking mid sentence during a job interview once, really sold that "I'm totally in control" vibe I was going for.
