Finally cracked the code on quick filler sanding

I used to hate how long it took to sand body filler smooth on every job. After trying a bunch of ways, I found that using a block sander with 80 grit first then 220 grit works best. Keeping steady hands and checking with a light really helps avoid low spots. Now I save so much time and the panels come out ready for paint much faster.

Totally agree about checking with a light. I used to skip that and ended up with so many low spots I had to refill. Ugh. Doing the 80 grit first like you said is key to knock it down fast without going too deep. My arm doesn't feel like it's gonna fall off anymore.

Speaking of going too deep, my first attempt looked like swiss cheese.

Honestly, how bad can a little swiss cheese be? It's just wood filler, not a surgery. A few extra passes with the sander usually fixes it right up.
