Talked to a logger last week who changed how I think about pruning cuts
He told me he never uses a handsaw above his shoulders because one bad cut from fatigue can ruin a tree for decades, and it made me realize I've been pushing through tired arms way too often on big oaks - has anyone else scaled back their cutting when they start to feel it in their shoulders?

I started paying attention to this after I dropped a saw on my foot about two years ago, just from being exhausted on a big maple. Now I stop the second my shoulders start feeling heavy, even if I'm only halfway through a cut. I'll switch to a pole saw or just call it a day and come back tomorrow, the tree's not going anywhere. Honestly, taking those extra breaks has made my cuts cleaner and my arms way less sore the next morning.

So you ever get that weird shaky feeling in your hands when you're really pushing it... that's my signal now too.
