I finally figured out why that Frigidaire ice maker keeps freezing up
Three years ago I was at a customer's house in Pittsburgh, second call that week on the same model. Pulled the ice maker assembly and found the usual frost buildup. Replaced it, came back two weeks later, same thing. Third time I sat there watching it cycle for 20 minutes. The fill tube wasn't seated right from the factory, just a hair off angle, so water was dripping down the back instead of going into the mold. Took a heat gun, bent the bracket 2mm and it never acted up again. Has anyone else caught something like that just being a sloppy assembly line issue?

@finley_price24 did that GE valve have a hissing sound too or just the drip?

Read that post about Frigidaire units and had to jump in because I just went through something similar with a GE model last month. Customer had the same complaint, ice maker freezing up every few weeks. I noticed the water valve was dripping a tiny bit after the cycle ended (probably a bad seal from the factory). That little drip would freeze and block the fill tube, then everything backed up. Ended up replacing the valve and bending the fill tube bracket like you did, never had a callback. It's crazy how a fraction of a millimeter off can cause such a headache. Good on you for catching that after three trips, most techs would've just kept swapping parts forever.

Wait... wait, you caught a water valve dripping AFTER the cycle? That's insane. I mean, who even thinks to check that, most guys would just blame the ice maker itself. That's some next level detective work right there.
