Was totally skeptical about programmatic audio ads until last month

I run a small agency in Austin and always figured audio ads were just for radio. A client asked us to test Spotify programmatic with a $3k budget and I almost talked them out of it. After 3 weeks we saw a 2.4x lift in brand search volume and I had to eat my words. Has anyone else seen programmatic audio actually work for a local service business or is it more of a national brand thing?

Haha yeah I was the same way, thought programmatic audio was just a way for tech companies to burn money. Then I ran a test for a buddy's plumbing company in Austin and it wound up being our best performing channel that month, which made me feel real stupid for badmouthing it.

Did you target by time of day or just run it wide open? Honestly that's the move that made the difference for me when I tested it.

Oh man, timing was everything for me. I split test it and the difference was nuts. Ran wide open for a week and got okay results, but when I capped it to morning commutes and lunch hours my cost per lead dropped by like 40%. The plumbing crowd is probably similar to what I saw.
