Broken pottery making me see ancient folks in a new way
Was sorting some pottery bits from a dig report, just plain old broken stuff. Always thought of them as trash, you know? But then it clicked that every single chip was used by a real person for cooking or carrying water. Like that one piece with a kid's tiny fingerprint still in the clay. Suddenly these weren't just things in a box, they were proof of daily life. It's a small win but it changed how I look at all the simple finds now. Makes the past feel way more alive and close to home.
