My switch from hand cut dovetails to router jigs for drawers

Wait, @olivia857, you think router jigs are just speeding things up? That's crazy to me because they change the whole game. Like, try cutting a perfect dovetail by hand versus with a jig. The jig gets it exact every time, no guesswork. And for making lots of the same piece, a router jig saves days of work. It's not just faster, it's a different kind of skill, setting up the jig right. Calling it speed-running misses how much thought goes into the setup.

Pro tip: When a client pushes for cheaper padding to cut corners, think twice.

Ever notice how people never learn from this cycle? Saw the same thing happen with my neighbor's cheap patio furniture last year, totally what @victorhill means. They just get mad instead of seeing it coming.

Update: Fixing a classic walkman made me see how repair got more complex

Honestly that belt turning to goo is such a specific problem, I remember dealing with that too. Tbh it makes me wonder if the whole sealed-up design of new stuff is on purpose to stop us from fixing things. Do you think companies make things harder to repair so we just buy a new one instead? Ngl, that really kills the whole satisfaction of getting something working with your own hands like you did. It feels like they took that option away from us.

Pro tip: I thought party games were pointless until my last game night

My friend brought Just One to our weekly game night. I rolled my eyes at first, thinking it was too basic. But after one round, we were all laughing and guessing words. It's like these games have a secret plan to make you have fun against your will. Scout did the same thing to me last month. I swear, the box should come with a warning label.

Hidden baggage fees on budget flights are so frustrating!

I mean at this point don't we all know their whole game by now?
