The simple morning chat that cut our do-overs in half

I used to just show up and start laying carpet without much talk with the other guys. On a big house job with three rooms and a hallway, halfway through we saw the pattern was off because I assumed we were starting from the left wall, but my partner thought from the center. We had to pull up a whole section, wasting time and material. Now, every morning, we spend five minutes going over the plan, like where to start and how to handle seams. It sounds basic, but it made a huge difference in how smooth our jobs go and how fast we finish. I mean, idk, maybe it's just me, but that small step altered how we get things done as a team. It's not about rushing in, it's about making sure everyone's on the same page from the start.

Tell me about it... I once spent half a day pressure washing a driveway only to realize the homeowner wanted the patio done first, and I had to move all my gear and start over. That kind of morning chat saves so much headache, it's stupid not to do it. You feel like a fool for not doing it sooner, but man does it make the day go better. Just getting everyone looking at the same starting point changes everything.
