Unpopular opinion: Trying to impress a date with homemade pasta led to a flour explosion

So I invited this person over for a casual dinner and thought making fresh pasta would be a cool idea, even though I'd only seen it done online. I got out my rolling pin and started kneading, but I guess I added too much water or something because the dough was super sticky. In my rush to fix it, I flung a handful of flour right into the air, and it poofed everywhere, coating my kitchen, my hair, and even the cat who wandered in. My date showed up early and walked into what looked like a snow globe disaster zone, with me standing there covered in white powder. We both laughed it off, but the pasta turned out gummy and weird, so we ended up ordering pizza instead. I kept finding flour in weird places for days, like behind the microwave and on top of the fridge. It was a funny mess, but it made the whole night more memorable than if everything had gone perfect. Anyone have a kitchen experiment that turned into a comedy routine?

Wait, the cat got flour on it too? @sethhernandez might be onto something.

That flour story reminds me of my friend's attempt at baking bread last year. She had a similar cloud of flour all over her apartment. But I see it differently, these kitchen fails are more frustrating than funny. If you're trying to impress someone, maybe practice the recipe alone first. A messy kitchen just adds stress to what should be a nice evening.

Disagree on this one. I find those messy kitchen moments can actually make the night better. When everything goes wrong, it takes the pressure off trying to be perfect. You both end up laughing instead of stressing about the food. My worst cooking disasters are now the stories we tell years later. Practicing alone might avoid the mess, but it also misses out on a fun time together.
