Homemade citrus cleaner actually works on carbon buildup...
I gave my homemade citrus cleaner a shot on a rusty bolt... It cut through the carbon buildup better than I hoped.

Hey, just wondering, but isn't rust a different thing from carbon buildup? Citrus cleaner might work on carbon, but rust comes from moisture and air, so it might not break it down the same way. I mean, it could still help, but maybe not like a special rust remover.

Hold up, is rust really such a huge problem here? I get that rust and carbon are different, but does it matter for cleaning? Citrus cleaner has acids that can eat at rust too, not just carbon. I've used it on rusty stuff before (like old tools) and it worked okay. Special rust removers might be overkill unless it's really bad. Sometimes we overthink these things when a simple solution does the job.
