TIL my phone's screen is way dimmer than I thought
I was reading a review on The Verge and they measured my exact phone model's peak brightness at only 800 nits, not the 1000 the box claimed. That explains why I always squint outside lol. Has anyone else checked their gadget's specs against real tests?

Remember that review numbers are for peak brightness in a tiny area for a short time. Your whole screen won't hit that. My old phone claimed 1200 nits, but real tests showed it only held 800 for a full screen before getting hot and dimming down. The box number is basically a best-case lab trick.
