I think the push for electric ladles is missing the real problem in our pour lines
Everyone at the last shop meeting was excited about those new electric ladle systems, but I've been in this trade for 22 years and I see the same issue over and over. It's not the tool, it's that guys rush their preheat cycle because they want to get back to the break room. Last month at Miller Foundry in Cleveland, I watched a guy skip a full 10 minute preheat on his regular ladle and then blamed the metal for a bad pour. Has anyone else noticed that better training on basics beats any new gadget every time?

Hear you loud and clear. Seen too many guys blame the gear when they skipped the basics. Good training on the fundamentals always beats a shiny new toy.

Man, preach. @mitchell.lee nailed it. I remember last year some new guy showed up with a $2,000 bespoke putter but couldn't hit a simple 5-foot breaker to save his life. Spent all his time complaining about the face insert. Meanwhile I'm still rolling with my 15 year old trusty flat stick and draining putts because I actually practice the lag and the routine. Gear doesn't fix bad habits.

Bet you that same guy would blame his putter when he missed the easy ones too, right? Like I gotta ask what do these guys think is gonna happen when they buy that expensive gear but haven't even built a consistent pre-shot routine or learned how to read a green properly? Seen it way too many times where someone drops serious cash on a new driver but can't keep their head still through impact. The mental game and the basics like grip and alignment are what actually shave strokes off your score, not the fancy logos on your bag.
