Showerthought: My desperation for tacos led to a genius parking spot hack at the 4th Street festival
After circling for 20 minutes, I finally just asked the guy at the 'Taco Tornado' truck if I could park in the alley behind his spot, and he said yes, which saved my lunch plans and got me three al pastor tacos for $12.

Asking the vendor directly is always the move.

Actually, I have to push back a little on that. @carter.gavin, asking the vendor is a good first step, but it's not always the full move. They're naturally going to tell you their product is the best fit. You really need to check with other users who have no reason to sell you on it. I've been burned before by just taking a salesperson's word for it. Their job is to make the sale, not give you the downsides. So you should still do your own digging after you talk to them.
