Just counted 37 bouquets I made this week that had eucalyptus in them

I was putting my supply order together and did a quick tally from my work notes. Every single wedding order and half the sympathy arrangements used it. It's become such a default filler that I think we're all getting lazy with texture. I'm worried customers will start seeing it as cheap or overdone. What other greens are you guys using to mix things up?

Notice how eucalyptus smells so strong it can drown out the actual flowers? Maybe we're picking it for our own noses instead of the customer's eyes. Try swapping in some dusty miller or even lemon leaf for a week and see if the whole feel of your work changes. Doesn't a bouquet seem more special when the green stuff doesn't shout over the roses?

You're right about the smell, @veraj53, but most florists use seeded eucalyptus which has almost no scent.

@veraj53 cracked it, I switched to lemon leaf once and suddenly my arrangements actually felt finished instead of just loud.
