The day my home inspector found a raccoon in the attic
I was in the crawl space of a house in Springfield with my inspector, Dave, when we heard a weird scratching sound above us. He shined his light up and there was a full family of raccoons just staring back at us from the insulation. We had to add a $500 wildlife removal clause to the offer before we could even think about closing. Has anyone else had a surprise like that pop up during an inspection?

Watched my buddy's inspector peel back some loose siding on a bungalow last year. A whole hive of bees, like a buzzing gray beard, just poured out of the wall. The sound was unreal. He ended up walking away from the deal because the estimate to fix the damage and remove them was more than the seller would cover.

Did your buddy's inspector at least get some free honey... before running for his life?

Free honey sounds great until you realize it comes with a thousand roommates who never clean up. That inspector probably got a lifetime supply of adrenaline instead. Walking away was the only smart move, because fixing bee damage is no joke. The sellers must have known they were sitting on a sticky situation. Some deals just aren't worth the sting in the end.
