Tried a hand nipper vs. a hoof nipper on a draft horse last Tuesday and learned my lesson real fast

I was working on this big Percheron in Maryland and thought I'd save some arm fatigue by using my regular hand nippers instead of hauling out the heavy hoof nippers. Big mistake. I spent 20 minutes fighting that wall and barely made a dent. Switched to the hoof nippers and cut through like butter in under 2 minutes. Anyone else ever get lazy with the wrong tool and regret it?

That 20 minute struggle sounds familiar, I did the exact same thing with a Shire up in Pennsylvania a few years back. The thing is, hand nippers just don't have the leverage for that thick draft hoof wall, you know? They're designed for lighter trims on smaller breeds, not that dense, tough material. I guarantee you that Percheron's wall was almost twice as thick as a Quarter Horse's, easily. Once you switch to the right tool, it's night and day - your arms will thank you later.
