My payment gateway went down on Black Friday and I lost 12 orders in 2 hours
It happened last month during the busiest shopping day of the year and I had to manually refund everyone through PayPal while my competitor across the street kept selling, has anyone else here stress-tested their checkout system for Edmonton traffic surges?

Lost 12 orders in 2 hours" is brutal. I test my checkout system every month with a fake order just to make sure it holds up. You gotta simulate a bunch of people hitting it at once, like 50+ carts going through in 5 minutes. That kind of traffic spike in Edmonton can kill a site fast if you haven't prepped for it.

Burned myself testing once. Forgot to turn off the test mode and a real customer's order got flagged as a simulation. That was a fun phone call to explain.
