I compared a $50 LinkedIn upgrade to just going to coffee meetings in Edmonton
I spent a month trying the premium LinkedIn thing for networking around Whyte Ave and it got me maybe 2 replies. Then I just started asking people from the Edmonton Business Network group for a 15 minute coffee at Transcend and got 6 real conversations in 2 weeks. Has anyone else found that face to face beats any online tool around here?

Nah, I actually got way more leads from LinkedIn than cold coffee meetings here.

Oh man, I've been burned by that algorithm too many times! The trick I learned is to find those local coffee shop meetups or small Facebook groups for whatever you're into. Like for my gardening stuff, I just asked at my local nursery if they knew any clubs, and boom, real people who actually share tips instead of the same five viral posts. You have to be a little bold and just ask around, it's awkward at first but so worth it. Plus you get the bonus of making actual friends who will save your plants when you overwater them, unlike some algorithm that just shows you ads for fertilizer.
