Shoutout to the old timer who showed me how to clear a plugged cutterhead without a full shutdown
What I thought was a quick 30 minute fix for a jammed cutterhead on the Mississippi job last week turned into a full 8 hour ordeal because I kept trying to reverse the suction without checking the intake screen first, which was completely packed with clay and old logging cables.

That's why I always check the screen first, even if it adds five minutes to the walk-around.

My buddy Jake had a Cessna 172 with a tiny crack in the screen right by the fuel gauge. He almost missed it once because he started his walk-around at the wing. Now he opens the door first thing and puts his eyes on every single gauge for a full minute. He says that little ritual caught a dead battery indicator last month.
