Had to choose between cable trailing and a booster pump on the Arkansas River job
Back in September I was working a tight channel near Pine Bluff. The current was pulling hard on my cable, kept dragging it across the bank. I could either run a trailing line setup or rent a booster pump to keep the flow up. Picked the booster pump at $350 a day. It worked fine but the fuel cost ate into the profit. Next time I'd try the trailing line and see if it saves the headache. Has anyone here run a trailing line on a narrow stretch like that?

Actually trailing line works better in current so you don't have to fight fuel costs. Just my two cents.

Trailing line saves me every time on the river. Burned through way too much gas trying to fight the current last summer. Never going back to the old way.

Actually trailing line works better in current" is a nice theory until you're out there with the line snagging on every rock and submerged log. I'll take the predictable fuel cost over losing half a day untangling a mess.
