Spent 4 hours trying to fix a dimension error on a simple floor plan
Last Tuesday I was working on a basic floor plan for a kitchen renovation. I kept getting a dimension error on one wall and could not figure out why. I checked every line and layer in AutoCAD three times. Turns out I had a tiny polyline segment hidden behind a hatch pattern that was throwing off the whole measurement. It took me 4 hours to find that one stupid mistake. Has anyone else had a hidden line drive them crazy like that?

Ugh, I feel your pain. What finally worked for me was turning off all hatch patterns and using the audit command to scan the whole drawing. That little trick found a hidden zero-length line that was causing the same kind of headache. Now I always overlay the properties palette and look for any line that reads as a polyline with no length or a weird angle. It's a pain, but it beats hunting for hours.

Did you try the purge command first too? Honestly I had a buddy who spent three hours on a drawing that kept crashing and it turned out to be some tiny spline that was duplicated under another object. He almost lost his mind until someone told him to do what you described. Tbh the audit command is a lifesaver for those invisible gremlins people don't even realize they left behind. Ngl I used to skip that step and now I run it every time before i save anything. It's one of those things you learn the hard way after wasting a whole afternoon.
