I spent $800 on a drafting software upgrade and it set me back a month

Everyone in the shop was pushing for the new 3D modeling package, saying it was the future. I bought it, thinking it would speed up our prototype work. The learning curve was so steep that we missed a client deadline for a set of architectural plans. Has anyone else had a new tool completely disrupt their workflow instead of helping it?

Two weeks before a deadline? That's insane.

Honestly, that sounds like a planning problem, not a tool problem. You can't just drop new software on a team with a deadline looming and expect magic. Isn't the real issue rushing the rollout without proper training time?

Exactly! @emmag22 is totally right. It's like giving someone a race car but not teaching them how to drive, then being mad they crashed. I saw this happen at my last job. They rolled out a new project tracker two weeks before a huge client deliverable. No one knew how to log their hours properly, so the whole report was wrong. Management blamed the tool, but we just needed a week to learn it first. Rushing it just sets everyone up to fail.
